The Good Level
CBD Olive Oil, otherwise known as an olive oil-based CBD oil is a CBD oil that uses olive oil instead of the market standard MCT.
The primary differences between coconut oil and olive oil can be seen in the types of fatty acids contained in each of these oils. Coconut oil is composed of medium-chain fatty acids, whereas olive oil contains short-chain fatty acids. Both types of oils contain triglycerides. Coconut oil contains a large proportion of MCT fats, while palm oil has only a small percentage of them.
MCT oil, otherwise also known as coconut oil, has always been very well known on the market for its health benefits when ingested but also for its plethora of skincare benefits when used topically. In fact, when you look towards healthy eating, many people are turning to coconut oil to cook or bake with as they are becoming more mindful about what they are ingesting.
On the skincare side of things, it is known to be extremely nourishing and healing for the skin and it can be found in a huge range of skincare products such as moisturisers, lip balms, body butters and scrubs. It is no wonder MCT or coconut oils are a much loved ingredient for topical and ingestion. It can be mixed in other carrier oils to be used topically as well for skincare benefits.
Often called ‘the healthiest fat on earth,’ most people agree that extra virgin olive oil is incredibly healthy. As the scientific evidence continues to expand, there is now more research than ever before analysing the beneficial properties of the fatty acids and antioxidants found in extra virgin olive oil.
Olive oil contains mono-saturated fatty acids that are important for lowering cholesterol and LDL levels. This helps lower blood sugar levels. Olive oil also has anti-inflammatory properties that can help relieve pain and swelling. People who have a greater risk of cardiovascular disease should switch to olive oil over MCT oil. MCT oil has been proven to reduce LDL levels and lower the risk of heart disease. However, these benefits are less pronounced than that of olive oil.
Using the right type of olive oil is crucial. There are three recognised grades; refined, virgin and extra virgin olive oil. Extra virgin olive oil is the least processed and refined, which matches our Full Spectrum CBD oil tinctures perfectly. It’s extracted via a cold press, the same as our cannabidiol CBD, and then assessed for purity and sensory qualities. Extra virgin olive oil provides a distinct taste and is high in phenolic antioxidants which is why it is recognised as the premium choice when considering health and taste.
MCT coconut oil, the market standard, is refined oil. MCT has health benefits in its own right, although these begin to degrade more rapidly without refrigeration compared to olive oil.
In terms of health benefits, extra virgin olive oil is the clear winner. It contains heart-healthy monounsaturated fats, vitamins, and antioxidants. Virgin coconut oil contains more saturated fats, but they are only a little less than olive oil. However, both oils contain antioxidants while delivering a dose of CBD and have multiple positive effects on the body and little side effects.
Our extra virgin olive oil is cold pressed too, complementing our commitment to delivering the true reflection of nature across our range.
